Parpillary Cancer with possible lung mets

Hi doc,

I had TT back in 12/07 then a 150 MCI RAI in 01/08.  The initial tracer  scan shows neck uptake of 3.2 %.  However, in the post therapy scan( 150 mci scan) two new spots show up.  1 being a level II cervical node on the left side.  2 being a spot retro hilar left lung.    A CT scan follow up did not show anything in the lungs except a 2 mm non calcified nodule located in the left lower lobe, which i was told it could not be cancer because it is not in the same spot as the RAI scan.   My TG was 15.6 then dropped to 9.6 as of March/2008.

In May, I went for a second opinion at Herbert Irving cancer center at Columbia/Cornell in NYC.  I was told i had an incomplete neck surgery.  So,  I was sent for a right neck dissection.  11 nodes were removed, 4 tested positive for cancer.  Dr. Robert Mconnell is very sure that the left cervical node is a false reading.

I was tested again 6 weeks post the neck surgery for TG, came back at 6.3.

I have  questions
is 6 weeks too early to test for TG?
when should the next treatment plan be?
If RAI is needed again, going hypo or thyrogen?  being a possible lung met and all, will thyrogen work as effective?
Is a cure still possible in my case?

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with all of this.  I think you probably meant to post on the expert forum.  The doctor doesn't monitor this site.  The web address for the expert forum is http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/120  A lot of times it will say the forum is full, try again tomorrow, or something like that, but if you keep checking, you'll eventually be able to get your question on there.

Take care!!
