hi,
I have multonodular goitre on left side and blood result shows hyperthyroid.
my surgeon advsied to have it removed from left.
Did anyone had the surgery done at brampton hospital?
I am scared if there will be an changes to the voice after the surgery?
how bad is the scarring? is that really too noticeable? how good is bramton hospital?
The scarring is always a concern to any thryoid patient. I had two surgeries so I was even more worried at the second one making me look like Frankenstein's Bride...but after one year it is fading nicely.
As you don't normally get stitches externally anymore, you get either steristrips (littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys butterfly shaped very sticky strips to hold the wound closed) or a type of cling wrap and cotton wool. I had both!
Are you having trouble with the left side? Is it causing you any trouble swallowingPainful swallowing Swallowing difficulty or breathing? Usually most doctors will leave it alone unless it is causing that kind of problem from being enlargedEnlarged adenoids Enlarged prostate.
You might be a little husky after surgery, usually that is because the intubation tube can graze the vocal chords. If you must have surgery, make sure the surgeon has done more than 100 surgeries, ask if they have ever had problems with the laryngeal nerve which can be affected to cause voice problems, Hopefully their answer will be that they have never had a patient with this problem!
I am in Australia so can't give you any information on Brampton Hospital.
Good luck!
Jackie
