I want to know everyone's feelings about this. I AM NOT opening this thread for any bashing at all!! This is for information purposes only and I want to see what intelligent thoughts are on this topic and "treatment.

There were clinical trials here in Australia, but it is not sold to the public. I presume it was not made available as we have enough iodination in our foods and salt, and they figured most Aussies are pretty dumb and would do something silly like if a drop is good then I'll take 5 and feel better quicker! ( No offence to the SMART Aussies on this site! hee hee)
Things like Condy crystals (potassium permangenate) are only available at pharmacies and even then you have to beg for it.. (Condy crystals are a deep blue crystal which the people in the old days would use in water as a gargle for sore throats. My nanna used to give it to me and I would end up with a bright blue tongue for days!) Mind you it is also used as an anti-algae for fish ponds, a grub killer in lawns besides other things..no wonder it is impossible to get for human gargling any more!)
  Point is; we don't have it here in Oz, and I would  shudder to think of people using it as a quick fix.... the Lugol's I mean!

Lugols is an awesome medicine cabinet product in case of certain emergencies.
It is also good if in fact you have a proven iodine deficiency. If you are an autoimmune patient, then it is a whole different ball game and personally I suggest leaving it alone.....unless of course you have been lab tested and found deficient.
The "normal" patient can do a scratch skin test to see if they are deficient. Heed the warning....normal person.
It can be very hard to find and purchase....local healthfood stores usually won't carry it anymore....even naturopaths are hush hush about it in most cases....at least that is what I have found.

I dont really know as I have never tried it.
It was used many years ago for different reasons but also for Hypothyroidism.
Personally I would want to know the product inside out to give a valuation on it.
I also think that used without knowledge, it can be dangerous.

I would rather be on a Pharmaceutical Approved Medication that taking 'pot luck' with Lugols.
I dont think it is sold here in Australia.
