Can you tell me what the results of my ultrasound imply? The thyroid isthmus is diffuse top normal to midly enlarged measuring 5mm thick mass. What does midly enlarged mean? Is that a bad thing?
Within the right lobe of the thyroid gland there is a large complex mass with large cystic spaces and internal septations. Echogenic nodularity is associated with the dominat nodule which occupies much of the right lobe of the thyroid gland. The nodule measures 4.8 x 2.4 x 3.6 cm and contains vascular solid mural components. The thyroid isthmus and left lobe are free of discrete nodules.
My surgeon is removing the entire thyroid. He did give me an option of having a FNA but he would remove it regardless. I am passing on the FNA basically because I cant handle any more stress waiting for the results. I will have it removed October 27th. . I am concerned what vascular implies? Does this mean a higher chance of cancer?

Vascular means it has blood vessels running through it and blood supply.  This may increase the possibility of it being cancer (but it could also be non-cancerous).

After the thyroid is removed you will know.  But even if it were cancer, please be reassured that thyroid cancer is one of easiest to treat.

Try not to worry as thyroid cancer is one of the easiest to cure.
Your dr is removing your thyroid and will send it off to pathology. Most thyroid cancers are cured with removal anyway......so please try to relax and not worry.
Stay positive. I would have passed on the FNA too and said take it out!
When are you having surgery?
