I recently had an ultrasound and they told me Limited assessment of the right cervical tissue demonstrates a heterogenous mass measuring 2.3x2.2x3.0 cm with several hypoecoic nodules and associated increased vascularity, consistent with an enlarged thyroid lobe. Also the right lobe of thyroid measures 2.4x2.1x4.0 cm. The right is heterogenous in appearance. Right thyroid lobe large heterogenous solid nodule/mass measuring 2.1x1.9x3.1 cm additional small cystic nodules within the right thyroid lobe, largest measuring 0.5cm
PLEASE help

I'm sorry I'm far from being an expert at reading ultrasound reports.

It looks like the nodules are too small to do an FNA, since the only one that a size is given for is the 0.5 cm.

It appears that the thyroid is swollen/inflamed and there's blood flow (vascularity) on the left, with multiple nodules, but no indication as to how large those nodules are.

Is there something at the bottom of your report that says an "impression"?  This would indicate what, if any follow up is recommended.

They said I need a characterized thyroid ultrasound and a fine needle aspiration/biopsy but I just didn't know if anybody else had been thru this or had some insight on what it could be before those procedures? I also am worried I won't be able to afford the further testing so just asking thanks
We've had a lot of members that have been through similar issues, however, to my knowledge, we don't have any that are active on the forum right now.  I'm not sure that the 0.5 cm nodule would be large enough to get a good from, but, by all means if they've advised it, I'd let them try.

As for cost, you might try shopping around to see if different facilities have different costs, so you might get it at a less expensive cost.  We all have that right.
