Please post here your symptoms for nodule in thyroid and normal blood test

by heyheyhey0476, Aug 29, 2007 01:28PM
I have a nodule with calcification but have normal blood test. I have these symptoms. I also have Hepatitis C but don“t want to start treatment without ruling out thyroid problem. Becuase I have episodes of tachycardia and sometimes high blood pressure.

Post your symptoms so I can check. Thanks.

It's really hard to judge which symptoms are from what- thyroid mimics many other things & each of our bodies is different. Hep C is nothing to fool with. What kinf of treatment are they looking to do?

None.  Absolutely no symptoms.  Was found on routine checkup.

Have every symptom of hypothyroid -- literally every symptom.  And, a multinodular goiter that, on the right side, can be seen just by looking at me.  Blood work is all within the normal range.

I initially went to the doc for what I thought was depression.  She had given me meds, and went back for a follow-up because they weren't working.  I've always had the cold interolerance (or so it seems), but added to that was rapid weight gain for no reason, and my hip joints ached really bad.  I was also really tired all the time.  That's when she decided to run the blood tests.  All were within normal range, except I had the antibodies.

I've had cold hands and feet, periods of severe fatigue, pain in hands, sensitivity to cold, Reynauds, headaches (migraine, tension, ice pick, sinus, and any combination of 2 or more of them), chronic sinus congestion, low body temp, depression, OCD, and anxiety since my teens (in my 40s now). More recently (increasing over the past 10 years), symptoms have expanded to include brain fog, forgetfulness, long/short term memory loss, comprehension difficulties, sensitivity to heat, painful/heavy menses, tinnitus, plantars fasciitis, GERD, cystic breasts ovaries and cervix, fluxuating digestive patterns, periods of unintentional weight gain and loss, and eyelid twitches.  I had some problems with swallowing and pressure in my throat, but that turned out to be treatable with meds for GERD.  Btw, I have this list saved so I don't have to type it out each time.  LOL!

I have a multinodular goiter, which includes a complex primary nodule in my left lobe of 4.7cm and several smaller solid nodules in my right lobe.  TSH has always been normal, last one was 1.24.  In July, FT4 was 1.13 (.89-1.76) and FT3 was 2.82 (2.30-4.20), both below midrange although the dr says they're normal.  TPO Ab was <5, AntiTGAb was 22, both negative.  I'm not on any thyroid meds.

The problem comes in with additional dx's.  I have iron deficiency, vit D deficiency, and low copper.  I've also been found to have higher-than-average levels of mercury, arsenic, lead, cadmium, thallium and manganese.  I've also been dx'd with CFS and borderline adrenal fatigue.  Between all of these, it could be causing the symptoms I've been dealing with and the thyroid could be doing absolutely nothing.

absolutely no symptoms whatsoever, had goiter for several years with normal labs, surgery done recently because it simply had gotten too large.

Before my TT for multinodular goiter I noticed some hair loss, but that's it. No other symptoms. Normal labs throughout.

No symptoms other than a feeling of a little pressure in neck area when my levels are too hyper, which also effects my TED.

I haven't had two normal consecutive thyroid levels yet, in 11 years, done in 10 month intervals.

But I think I am getting closer.

To: ANYONE WHO CAN HELP!
I have a multinodular goiter on left side of thyroid, and have been experiencing strange neck congestion/ pressure and earache like symptoms (only left side) for last 6mo. My ultrasound of my thyroid said it was 1 1/2 inches. My thyroid test came back fine, but i cant sleep without taking alot advil etc. I am a mother of 4 young kids and need some sleep!!

No symptoms, "normal" blood tests.  Doctor felt my throat, thought my thyroid seemed a little enlarged, and sent me for an ultrasound which detected the nodule that turned out to be papillary cancer and some other junk that turned out to be goiter.

No symptoms - completely normal labs.  Nodule found on unrelated CT scan.

None of my sisters had any symptoms and all had normal labs with the exception of *slightly* elevated antibodies (subclinical hypothyroidism - Hashimoto's to be exact).

Daughter had NO symptoms and no abnormal labs.

Of all of that, here's the results:

me:  papillary carcinoma, no Hashimoto's (two recurrences - one RAI)
sister #1:  papillary carcinoma and Hashimoto's (stable after surgery)
sister #2:  papillary carcinoma and Hashimoto's (stable after surgery)
sister #3:  precancerous nodules and Hashimoto's (new, undiagnosed growth near thyroid bed - scheduled for further exam)
sister #4:  papillary carcinoma and Hashimoto's - spread to lymph system (three recurrences and later spread to breasts - three doses of RAI)
daughter:  precancerous nodules - one nodule compressing jugular - and Hashimoto's (stable after surgery)

None of us had palpated nodules - all nodules were found on scans following my initial diagnosis.

Oh, one more thing.  Sisters #1 and 4 both had FNAs which showed that the nodules were benign.  Surprise.  :-(

I went in complaining of difficulty swallowing.  The examining doc said he thought something seemed weird about my Thyroid.  2 weeks later had an US done and was noted I had a cyst with nodule.  Had the cyst drained about 5 times over a year's time.  The cyst is now mostly solid and the nodule has been biopsied 3 times, came back benign every time.  I am waiting to have it out as I want a second child and have been experiencing a lot of weird symptoms since 2003.  I don't know what's going on and neither do the docs.  They won't listen to symptoms and I refuse to prescribe to lab tests being the end all be all.  So we're at a bit of a stale-mate.  I'm chronically tired, an insomniac with bouts of excessive sleepiness during the day (hyper-somnia b/c of the insomnia), chronic diarrhea, I'm cold when others are hot, I have hot flashes, achy joints, neck pain, ear pain, tinnitus, tingles in the extremeties, heart palpatations, etc etc etc.  The list is never ending.  Although the doctors don't see this as a problem.  My lab work, well the little they will pull--comes back "normal".  Funny how I don't feel "normal".
