Post left thyroidectomy

Hi, I had a left lobe thyroidectomy last week. Pre op had breathing & hoarse voice probs, no visible lumps in neck.Op showed the tumour -6.5,4.5,5.5 cm-had wrapped around the windpipe, squeezing and mis-aligning it. After op left vocal chord not working and still got hoarse voice and breathing problems. Do you think it will all improve or am in trouble? I'm a secondary teacher an can't see how I can do my job the way I am at the moment.
Thanks Amanda

Saw somewhere a paper discussing vocal cord issues. The authors said that vocal cord issues are fairly common, and almost all resolve themselves within three and up to six months, but usually much sooner, days to a few weeks.

I'd probably try not sweat it until your throat has healed a bit more.
