Pounding heart associated iwth hyperthyroid

Hi everyone. First off let me say that my doctor has checked my heart and it is fine.
Does any one have a really loud pounding heart and what do you do about it? My heart rate is anywhere form 80-90 so the doc says that's fine. I will also post this question in the thyroid forum as I have an overactive thyroid that could cause this and in the heart disease forum as it's possible the heart med  (Metoprolol since March) that I'm on is causing this.
I am looking for techniques to learn to ignore this....It just grabs my attention it's so loud in my head and hard..and so I find I get scared and panic a bit when I can feel my heart thudding, especially when it is in the high 80s but the doc says that heart rate is fine.

Looking for techniques to distract my self or change my thinking or response to this...or just to know there are others out there that this happens to!

Marshmallow is the name of one of our cats, he is orange and white. We were up north when we got him form a farm and that ngiht we had a campfire and were roasting amrshmallows and then I said "look, he's exactly the color of a perfectly roasted marshmallow" so we named him that. It was origianlly going to be shakespear but this stuck!

Believe me I'm as motivated as I can be, I wanted to take this thyroid out months ago. they discovered this growth in March and by April we alrady knew we were surgically removing the thyroid. All the test were done and in June I saw the surgeon. She ordered a biopsy in August and has now booked me to have it removed in November......and that's how 9 months can go by! So they put me on the metoprolol for the rapid heartrate adn the hand tremors, I lost 30 pounds and had diarrhea for months and anxiety attacks...now my thyroid on its own has cycled back to being less hyper so I am feeling much better, but it's coming out!
Amazing isn't it?
I still can't believe it will be 9 months by November when I take it out.

The metoprol is to keep the heart rate from taking off and hitting 180. 80-90 beats a minute is fast, but the Metoprol doesn't interfere with that. It just keeps you under 120, so to speak. It prevents tachacardia.

The fast heart rate is part of being hyper. All the heart symptoms are from being hyper. You don't want to remain in this state for months. If it goes on long enough it can cause damage. I'm not trying to scare you, just motivate you.

I know  ...Mine at one point was 60 but if felt like it was going crazy.  I did notice arrythmia though... this is where your heart skips beats every so often.  I notice a big change right after I eat...beats real hard.

Love the name marshmallow   which reminds me of peanut butter an marshmallow sandwiches  love love I get up in the middle of the night and eat these.. and then my heart pounds..  I take atenolol for this 50mg a day.

Great, so if the metoprolol is supposed to lower the heart rate what is going on here?
I mean, I suppose my heart rate has been lowered because it was 103-110 befor and now it's 80-90 sometimes as high as 96, butthe loudness of the pounding makes me think that iti is higher.
Also it use dot be 708- when I first started the met but now has gone 80-90

It used to drive me crazy, and I was taking Toprol XL to keep the heart rate under control. Sometimes it felt like it was going to beat right out of my chest. The heart rate was fine though. Just THUD THUD THUD.

And other strange heart things.
Hyperthyroidism.
