Prednizone

by Cabo513, Jul 14, 2008 11:15AM
I had my thyroid removed 5 years ago and it was cancer.  Since that time I take 100mg of synthroid a day and have gotten along fine.  Two years ago I started hurting and aching all over to the point I could barely walk up or down stairs.  My doctor, after tests, determined it must be fibromyalgia and prescribed 5mg of prednizone a day.  To my relief it worked beautifully.  No more aches or pains.  Then I developed a yeast infection in my esophogus and I was sure it was from the prednizone, so I gradually took myself off of the it.  (I live in Mexico and we do tend to medicate ourselves with the expertise of the internet) After two weeks, I once more had all the aches and pains return and still the chest burning of the yeast infection, it did not get better.  So, I went back to the prednizone and feel much better again.  My question is, of course, what are my dangers in continual use of the prednizone?  I am very concerned but feel so much better I hate to go off of it again.

This discussion is related to Prednizone and Nexium use in Hyper patients.
