My question for this post is that I am curious as to the link between progesterone and TSH. I have seen a few mentions of hypothryoid individuals having low progesterone and seeming to be helped with low supplemental doses of progesterone, therefore a negative correlation between progesterone and TSH...low progesterone seeming to effect a high TSH/hypothyroid state. Is it then possible that my high progesterone could be a possible cause or trigger for someone like myself who is hyperthyroid? I understand there is also a link or tendancy for those with celiac disease to present with an autoimmune thyroid condition. I also want to note that I have not been following my gluten-free diet. At all. I am really just curious as to where having a high progesterone level could fit into the picture, as everything else seems to have obvious connections.
What I am really interested in finding is a referral to either any medical information or text that references any such correlation (including the hypothyroid connection) or any possible studies that have been done. Hopefully something solid I could bring up with my endocrinologist. It will be interesting to see if we find the cause of my excess progesterone, treat that, and then find that my Grave's disease resolves. I am curious to see what happens.
