Question about Hypothyroidism making me feel woozy

for three weeks I have been woozy feeling (a slightly innebriated feeling) not quite with it.
Throughout the process I went to the emergency room twice. The first time they did a Ct scan, the second time they told me it was an inner ear infection. The doctor actually argued with me and told me that hypothyroidism doesnt cause a woozy drunk feeling, so they didnt do blood work.

Finally I was able to schedule an appointment with my family doctor tested my TSH and it was at 12.5. He increased my dosage and says that I should be feeling better within a few weeks. He says he's pretty sure that this is what caused the feeling of being drunk.

Has anyone else ever experienced this drunk woozy feeling as a result of high TSH levels.

Laurie

You are severely hypothyroid.  Yes of course you'd be woozy.  You will continue to meet these ill-informed doctors who do not understand thyroid conditions.  There are many different types of woozy too I've learned...changes daily....I would also get vertigo when very hypoT where I would feel shelves about to fall on me.  My doc misdiagnosed many of my hypoT symptoms as other things...heel pain as postman's foot, hypoT vertigo as mal de disembarquement syndrome.  Your TSH is extremely high and needs to come way way down to about 1.0.  Try adding T3 meds if you haven't already.  I have found T4 only does not work - and T3 is great for all the head stuff including vertigo, brain fog, depression....anything heady!  Best wishes.  You need to act asap.

I think your family doctor is right and the ER doctor needs to go back to check his textbooks.

I have days where I feel lightheaded and nauseos. When first diagnosed and on medication, I freqently feld like the world was spinning. I still have periods of "vertigo" usually when my medication is increased.
