Question about TT scar/incision

Hi everyone!  I had my TT on 1/9, staples finally removed on 1/23 (they weren't ready to be removed the week before) - I have still been putting neosporin type  goop on it, last night I kinda turned funny getting daughter to sleep and kinda "opened" up a tiny bit of incision so I put more goop on it.  Is this normal?  I'm still not lifting things (including 2 year old) b/c as the Dr. said to still give all 5 layers time to heal.  Also, I think I read somewhere that it will start to look ugly about a month after the surgery, is this true?  Some areas look uglier than others and maybe a litlle thicker in some than others - all normal?
Thanks in advance for your input!

I had glue on my incision and part of it was "torn out" when I took off my scarf one day... leaving a gaping hole in my neck.  I cleaned it with soap and water and put first aid tape on it.  I told my surgeon what had happened and what I did and he said, "good job."  I would recommend you try the same, but if you see redness, feel warmth, or have abundant discharge, get an appt. w/your surgeon.

Oftentimes the scar cream and the vit e may sting the incision; esp. if open ... make sure no infection and I agree with above ideas ... I had steri tape and stitch running inside ....... I had an abscess so please be careful .... it took ions longer to heal and I still have a scar from the abscess a year later.

I would go and have the open area seen about by another doctor if this one thinks it is okay to have an open area. Hope you get to feeling/healing better:)

Be careful with a open incision area.  Wash area with gently with soap and H2O then pat dry.  Apply neosporin (triple antibiotic oint) til completely closed.  The last thing you need right now is a secondary infection in a incision!

I had my TT on 12/21/07 and I have been using vit E oil and then I will switch to a scar cream that you can get at Wal-Mart.  The incision does look thick and bumpy, but it is all part of the healing process.  In due time you probably wont be able to see it that well.  I still do not lift anything that is that heavy.  I makes my neck muscles hurt.

Hang in there and feel free to ask more questions!  Thats what we are here for!!!
