Question about depression

I know I asked before but I too have noticed that depression is significantly worse after RAI. But does anyone know why and also will it at least ease up after I start meds? Body scan on Monday and my endo told me the minute I am done I can take my Cytomel followed by Synthroid. I have dealt with depression before as I have been hypo for 14 years preceeding this but this bout of it is pretty bad.

It does get bad and it does last for a while. Cytomel does work faster than Synthroid so you should feel some type of relief probably in a few days. Good luck!

I'm sorry you have it so bad.  I **really** wish the doctors would warned about this and follow up to make sure no one is climbing to the roof!

Roidless, it was the deepest depression I've been through.  I was hoping that you could avoid it.  The good news is IT DOES LIFT!  I was allowed back on my Synthroid (doubled dose for 5 days) 24-hours after my big dose of RAI (didn't have to wait for the body scan).  From that point it took about 5 weeks for the depression to go away.  That's why I was saying keep your eye on Valentine's Day.  That should be when your depression is lifting.

It's horrible, I know.  I'm so sorry you are going through it.

I'm thinking some time in Cabo will help a bit.  :-)  The warm weather will do you some good too.   Talk to your doctor about doubling your thyroid replacement for a short while when you are allowed to go back on it.

HANG IN THERE!!!

Roidless I know about this horrible depression.I am bi polar anyway so it has been doubly bad for me right now.I try to get out side and go for a walk and get some air .That seems to help.
Plus you have had some double whammies raight now and I am sure some of the depression is coming from that as well.I know it is hard to make self get some lite exercise when we are hypo but it does help through the rough patches.
