Question about weight after RAI

by lil dollie, Apr 17, 2007 12:00AM
I have a question about my weight issues and RAI. My doctor told me once I have RAI, I will have to watch everything I eat or I may blow up like a balloon. I have weight issues now and was planning on going on a diet and exercising but my doctor told me not to do this while hyperthyroid. Well, once I have RAI, can I start exercising and dieting then? I really need to get rid of all of this weight. Will it be hard to lose once I have the RAI done? Any input will help me out!

I would love to know the same. I needed to lose weight before my RAI and I had it last wed., however since I am having my scan friday I still can't take any med's .  I have gained 15 pounds since my first surgery in Feb and  not happy.  I have been working out and eating only veggies and lean meats and im still gaining..  Bought the thyroid diet book but am bascially eating the foods it says I need to eat.

I am having the same problem.  I gained 15 lbs last summer, right before TT and being dx w/ thyca.  I walk everyday for 45 minutes, play tennis at least once a week, and eat very healthy because my husband cooks and he is an organic freak, and I still can't lose weight.

I'm having enough trouble pulling myself out of bed in the morning to exercise, but my diet has had no effect on my weight.  The usual way I know my thyroid is off is when my weight changes.
