My daughter is 24 years old, she is hypothroyid, she was taking a generic for synthroyid, about one month ago the pharmacy filled it brand instead, the past 3 weeks, she is feeling wiped out, and puffy faceFace pain and shoulders shoulders intensive treatment Shoulder arthroscopy Shoulder pain, she has also gained weight. Her last TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh was 1.13, T4T4 test total is 9.9, T3 uptake is 25, Free T4T4 test is 2.5. She is starting to exhibit the same symptons she had when she first started meds. Should you speak to her doctor about more or less meds, at this time she takes .75 mcg. I realize that her levels are "in range" but is it possible for it not to be her best range for her?
I think she should definitely get in to her doc and have bloodwork done again to see where her levels are.
From everything I've read, there are enough differences between the brand and generic that one should not switch back and forth between the two. My doctor doesn't advise taking the generic, but my insurance doesn't cover the brand. I was started out on the brand, and decided that it was worth the money to continue using it because I don't want to go through feeling nasty again.
Good luck!
