Questions for the Endocrin

I want to thank everyone again for all their input.  This is so scary and so confusing.  I thought I would just get tested and get a script, but this is turning into a nightmare with me constantly trying to find an answer.  Anyone suggest any questions to ask endocrin specifically?  I freeze when I go in and forget so I am coming armed with my knowledge--and of course a notebook of questions.  To reiterate from past posts, I am hyper with mainly hypo sympotms. Always cold, hair is falling out, weight gain.  I do also have sweaty hands, shakes and heart palps.  My TSH is 0.01 on a .4-5.5, my TSI is 799 norm is <150 and microsomal is 107.5 normal is <5. FT3 and FT4 are the high end of normal. I had an issue with breathing, sweating, faint feeling, heart palps and shakes on Sat.  And while it was hot, it wasn't too bad--according to my husband.  One post thought it might be a panic attack.  I was never even aware that thyroid could cause that.  Is there anything else I should be asking.  I do want to focus on that Graves/hashi thing b/c my dr. isn't aware of my old labs--not because he doesn't have them, I don't know why his nurse seemed confused about it on the phone.

It looks like you have Graves antibodies for sure. I would concentrate on learning more about hyperthyroidism and Graves right now.

If you learn and read more about that condition you will be able to sift through the things you learned and be able to address more things with your doctor.

I know you say that you show signs /symptoms of hypothyroidism - but these symptoms can tie together with both disorders.

I would also suggest to your endo a good cardio workup may be good right now- then if need be suggest the beta blockers

I would let your endocrinologist know which symptoms you are experiencing that are bothering your most.  I would think the heart palpitations, trouble breathing and feeling faint are something he or she should be able to address.  Ask your endo if you should be on a beta-blocker.  It has made a bit difference to me with the heart palpitations, and if I forget to take it even once, I feel them coming back.

If you could write down your labs on a spreadsheet with date and result for each of the test results, your physician could see the trends. Be sure your physician knows all of the medications you are taking also, even the over the counter ones.

It helps if you have your list of questions written down when you go to see your physician so you don't forget anything and then wish you had asked it.

Good luck...
