RAI WHole Body Scan I-131

What are the precautions to be taken after an I-131 whole body scan? How long will the radiation from the body last? Can one get pregnant after  this scan, and how long should we wait before getting  pregnant?

You should talk to your nuclear medicine department at your hospital to get a list of precautions - a lot of it depends on how much you are given and if it is for scanning, treatment, cancer, Graves, etc.

I know that radiation sniffers at the airport can pick up the radiation from thyroid cancer treatment for up to 9 months after your scan.  They do say that you can get pregnant after 6 months - my sister did and has a beautiful, healthy 2-year old now.
