Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but you will be fine. Take care, from another thyroid cancer survivor.

Of the three parts of the cure for this cancer (Surgery, LID/RAI, tweaking meds) I would defnitely say LID/RAI is the toughest. The surgery is the easy part, relative easy recovery (as you know).
The stupid diet is just for the birds, it seems so inhumane in a time of such stress to take away all that tastes good in life. Not fair. RAI is different for everyone, but I was definitely really sick the first day and only feel about 65% myself five days after the treatment. I'm still a bit tired and weak, but that could be from post surgical stuff (my surgeon says it can take up to 6 weeks for the body to fully recover). Being away from my daughter is so hard. I can see her now, but I avoid prolonged exposure because I don't want her little, perfect thyroid getting zapped. Children are very sensitive to the radioactivity.
As for the meds, so far I really haven't had any problems. Three weeks on Synthroid and I was already suppressed (it takes 4-6 weeks for it to fully build up in your system).. Since I am still dealing with the aftermath of surgery and RAI it's tough to know what is hormone related and what isn't. You just have to be patient and let the dust settle before you can really evaluate that part. Try not to jump at every random symtom. It's hard, but there is a great deal of patience involved in this whole process. It just doesn't move nearly as quickly as I think it should :)
You will do great. Your attitude is awesome! With the overall prognosis and your attitude you will be cancer-free before you know it!
:::))) .. oops I had you in the ::)) club

You are one heck of a lady - your amazing spirit and strength are going to carry you through this with shining colors!!!!
RAI is not fun, I won't lie to you, but it's also not that bad. The nausea was the absolute worst part for me (Shannon will tell you it's #2, #1 was being separated from her baby =( - I'm sure it will be the same for you), and the isolation protocols were a pain in my big Irish arse. BUT (now that the nausea is gone) looking back, it was not too difficult a treatment. I hope I never have to do it again, but it was 5 days out of my life. Not too bad for (hopefully) beating cancer!
I wish you the best of luck, and I look forward to helping you through it if you need me to!
Hon - you will get to be part of the TRIPPLE smile club now. We are the few, the elite, the idiots that had to have two surgeries! :-)
I'm going to send you a PM so we can talk if you like.
Hang in there my new found ThyCa friend from the next valley over!
LOVE

This will close and open a new chapter in your life. I have found my new chapter to be less stressful as I focus on the important things in my life that make me happy and don't dwell on the small stuff anymore!
Read my comments on your path report ... I made a small error above and re-clarified in the other post.
C~
I'm sorry you have to face this kind of news.
I hope you carry the support you have here throughout this uncalled-for journey - one that hopefully you’ll move quickly through.
How did you already know?
Take it easy.
You are now a member of the double smile club here on thyroid ...
::)) .. it means you get to have another surgery + a cancer diagnosis .. but it is an elite club because you will do great and conquer this thing .. it will not conquer you .. and every member here on this community is here for you day and night. You will never be alone .. nobody ever is ... we are here for each other my friend.
Cancer has no age limit; you are very lucky to have caught it early and I assume non-invasive.
Mine were incidental findings ...
Keep us posted and posted and posted .. want to hear from you every day .. okay?
Cheryl (papillary microcarinomas 1/07; stage I very early Melanoma 6/07 .. you will be ok and we are here for you)
I still don't have any answers for my stupid thyroid. It is still, swollen still feel it and shirts bother it. TIRED today and jittery yesterday - so I guess that means I am the same. Don't have another test until June. I have GYN on e-mail - I guess it's a good thing I work for an attorney that handles his malpractice claims (however stupid those claims are - really, I haven't seen him do anything to get sued), but the only thing I got out of him is that I need to make an appointment to come in and have my breast tenderness checked out. HA HA - that's been going on 3 years and now he wants to check it - well - then again, I was forced to switch GYN (my old one is not allowed to practice anymore) last year and have only seen this guy one time, so all in all, him wanting to check that is a good thing.
How are you - I cannot believe the strengh you have, posting after all you have been hit with today. It amazes me.
HEy thanks!!! How are you doing? I have had better days! HA HA
I see you have all the spirit to divide (divide yourself from the rest of your thyroid) and conquer (conquer the **** it left you with). I'll be praying for you hun.
SLOW DOWN AND SPELL CORRECTLY!!! :)

Dammit. That blows. It's amazing how they say it's so rare and yet four of us have been diagnosed in the last month. I'm so sorry. We will ALL conquer this together.

PS - you should start keeping a copy of all your tests / pathology reports - it will help you stay organized, and if you post the details (I know, gruesome) there are many very knowledgable people here who can help you decifer them.
