Recommended to have TT but Skeptical

I have had 2 fna within the past two years and the most recent reads:
Multinodular 3.7cm size lesion, solid, residual mass (Clinical history) (right side)
FNA Results: Abundant number of microfollicies
Atyical Follicular Cells
Colloiad Present
Favor Follicular Neoplasm
Suggest Clinical Correlation and follow-up

(left Side)
Multinodular goiter w/ microcalcification, 2.1cm size
FNA Results: Numerous Hurthle cell clusters, occasional follicular cluster
Moderate amount of colloid
Hemosiderin- laden macrophages
Evidence for cystic degenerative changes
Findings most consistent w/ Hurthle cell nodule or hurthle cell neoplasm
Suggest Clinical Correlation and followup

Are there any other alternatives methods besides surgery due to the fact that the cells may not be cancerous.
My concern is that I am going to develop symptoms that i have never had...after the surgery. Of course, I
wouldn't want to take chances, but i am not compfortable with the fact that my thyroid may be removed for nothing.
Thanks for your input. My blood work is all fine and i have no symptoms other than the goiter and nodules...

You can have a repeat FNA in 6 mos if your dr agrees.  Also, maybe try posting this ? on Dr. Lupo's forum .. he is terrific.

Mine were atypical follicular and were totally benign but told 25% go on to become cancer.

WELCOME!
