Removal or medication?

Following is all of the lab reports I've received since I started my uphill climb into the very "foggy" thyroid-zone!

Started with my complaining to MD of fatigue, anxiety and sleeping problems on 10/9/07. Dr. ordered bloodwork, US, and Thyroid Scan after examining neck area and feeling small nodule.

Results:  Blood
TSH -       1.51 (0.45-4.50)
T4 Free -   1.1 (0.8 -1.7)

Results: US
Hypoechoic nodule in the upper pole of left thyroid. Diffuse parenchymal necrosis noted in inferior left thyroid and isthmus in the right thyroid inferior pole. SIZE: 0.6 x 0.6 x 0.5 cm

Results: Thyroid RAI uptake and Scan
Hyperthyroid state. A diffuse parenchymal abnormality seen in the rt. lower thyroid and in lf. lobe with no signigicantly large space occupying *** neoplasm noted at this time.

Next was sent to ENT: 11/27/07 - He did FNA on new nodule found on rt thyroid SIZE: 2 x 2.1 x 2 cm and noted that left nodule had increased in SIZE: 1.1 x 1.2 x 1.0 cm. and there were several thyroid nodules found with two discrete areas of concern.

Results: FNA
Preliminary Interpretation: Consistent with benign thyroid nodule.
Follow with ENT in 6 months and make appt. to see ENDO for hyper symptoms.

12/13 - Went back to med Dr. got referral for ENDO 1/3/2008. Ordered new blood work and updated US because she could see that the nodules were growing!

Results: Blood

TSH    -            1.093  (0.350 - 4.940)
T4 (Thyroxine) - 8.15  (4.90 - 11.70)
T3 Uptake -       25.10 (23.0 - 37.0)
Thyroxine Fee - .87 (.70 - 1.48)

Results: US

Irregular shaped hypoechoic nodule in midpole SIZE: 7 x 6 x 3. The rest of the rt lobe is heterogeneous in appearance.

Irregular shaped hypoechoic solid nodule in the midpole as well as several small hypoechoic nodules or cysts. The lf lobe is also heterogeneous in appearance.

INDICATIONS: Hyperthyroidism. Nodules
CONCLUSION: Diffusely heterogeneous thyroid gland w/nodules noted bilaterally.

My questions: What does all of this mean? It seems that my blood work is in conflict with my US findings. Also is surgery looking eminent? What should I ask my Dr. this Thursday or the ENDO next month? I am coughing a lot at night and still having a rough time sleeping and crying more than I have ever done in my life. I am a 55 year old grandma and school teacher. Still feeling slight pain in the area that the FNA was done in.

Sorry for the length, I wanted to share as much info as I could.

I took your advise and emailed GL. She responded that she didn't give info on nodules?????
I really didn't want that, I just wanted to know if it was possible to be hyper with a large nodule and normal blood (I think) and if there were some specific questions I should ask during my first visit with my ENDO. She suggested I post the question with the Dr. I have been trying to do THAT for as long as I have been waiting for my ENDO appt (3 months), so that ain't happenin no time soon!!!

Anyway I thank you for at least trying to help. I guess I'll go back to the net and search around for another forum that might be a little more supportive.
