Well, the good news is that it definitely explains why you feel cold all the time! Yes, the TSH is a "bit" high, and the FT4 is definitely low in the range. Getting FT3 done is like pulling hen's teeth. Why are they so !@#$%^& stupid??? You're obviously due for a meds increase. At least it's clear where you have to go. Good luck when you see the endo.
Totally agree with goolarra. Suggest that when you go to see the Endo, don't automatically expect the Endo of all our dreams. LOL Many of them specialize in diabetes, not thyroid. I would initiate a conversation right away to find out if he will be treating you based on your symptoms and FT3 and FT4, or just to get your TSH within whatever range he uses. If he does not accept the primary importance of FT3 and FT4, and the fact that they correlate best with hypo symptoms (rather than TSH), then you are going to have to influence him to change his approach, or find a good thyroid doctor, in order to expect full symptom relief.
Thanks folks...I appreciate you popping in so fast....
I see the endo tomorrow....I have reserved feelings about her, she's been pretty ok for the most part, but when I speak with her I don't get the warm fuzzy feeling....she's a little bit on the cold side, but I was told by my surgeon that she does know her stuff and when they did my rai, the tech was speaking about the radiologist explaining that he was every bit as knowledgeable as Dr Singaram...so it made me feel that she knows her stuff, but I am learning that there are other drs up there....My surgeon impressed me the most...I wish I could just go to him.. : )
It's so hilarious...when I first was being ignored by a male dr "not listening to me" I so wished for a female dr, thinking they would somehow be more understanding....unt uh..
give me the guy dr's any day....
I had a female Endo who knew nothing about RAI and thyroids ( I fired her lol ) and yet I have a Doctor who is Male who I classify as 'brilliant'.
TSH is high and you wouldnt be feeling the best at the moment.
Hugs
not been feeling the best lately.....told the endo, when I sit I sleep and when I sleep, I'm buried under a mountain of clothes and blankets because I'm cold.
So I had my appointment today and my endo doc asked me "So how do you feel, we really like to hear directly from the patient" I got to I'm tired and she cut me right off and told me about my test results and advised that as soon as she gets me zero'd in with TSH and Free T4, then everything else will just fall into place and I will be fine...So she upped my meds, patted me on the head and sent me on my way....I have to retest in 6 weeks, which is an improvement over the three months thing we did the last time...and I have to do the 2nd full body scan in Oct....If she gets my TSH zeroed in and my Free T4 and I'm still symptomatic, then she will test Free T3, but she would be concerned there would be other issues at that point....Great...other issues...Let's hope not...
If she gets' me zoned in, she will let me go and I will come back to my new PCP who listens and is willing to work with me...So I'm waiting patiently.
I can totally relate to sitting and sleeping. When I was hypo, I couldn't stay awake on the half hour trip form our nearest "big" town to home.
Don't worry too much about "other issues" at this point. Your meds aren't adjusted properly, so fatigue, cold intolerance, etc. are expected. It's a waiting game...sad, but true. It just takes a while for it all to get adjusted properly.
It's a process...we've all been there. I think your meds increase will help you a lot. We're here...
