I'm not sure that I'm taking the right medication/dosage for my hypothyroidism. I've taken Synthroid and most recently, ArmourArmour thyroid, although I'm not feeling well - very tired, weight gain, muscle aches, fuzzy thinking.
Below are some test results over the last few years.
11/03 TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh .646 FT4 2.4 (50 mcg Synthroid)
4/05 TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh .471 FT4 1.15 ( 50 mcg Synthroid)
9/05 TSH .93 FT4 1.12 (50 mcg Synthroid)
2/06 TSH .743 FT4 1.22 (75 mcg Synthroid) I seemed to feel pretty good around this level)
4/06 TSH .064 FT4 1.69 (100 mcg Synthroid)
5/06 TSH .124 FT4 1.29 (75 mcg Synthroid)
1/07 TSH .182 FT4 1.28 (75 mcg Synthroid)
11/07 TSH .414 FT4 .81 (1 grain Armour)
7/08 TSH .188 FT4 .75 (1 grain Armour)
I've read that when the TSH and FT4 levels are both low, that the pituitary gland is not functioning properly. Is there a test that can be done to verify this? Also, I don't think I'm on the right level of medication - could you offer any suggestions? Thanks!
I would check cortisol (8 am) ACTH, GH, FSH and LH. (test for pituitary gland or hypothalamus function). But you're taking Armour (has T3), so you need to check for free T3, if it's normal, could be the reason for low TSH. (some people over here can explain this to you, try Stella.
