Salivary Glands

At first I was experiencing swollen salivary glands due to the radiation treatment.  On my yearly scan we noticied that I had a lot of 'uptake' on the right side of my face.  My endrocronologist told me this was normal.  This was last year in Oct. and I still am having pain and discomfort.  We have scheduled a scan for this Wed. but wondering if anyone out there had a similiar situation, where uptake showed in the parotid gland area???

Thank you for that feedback.  I keep reading about parotid tumors etc etc. and I am stressing myself out.  I did read however that it is normal to see uptake in the area of the salivary glands as well.  Good luck with your scan this week!

I also had swollen salivary glands.  It didn't start until 6 months after RAI.  It lasted several months and got worse at meals. Now the problem seems to be not enough saliva production.  I had uptake in the neck area  and other places as well.  I am doing thyrogen this week and get my scan on Friday.
