Sam confused

hello, exposed to ionized radiation and asbestos:  With many other health problems, diagnoised with hyperthyroidism, and radioactive iodine uptake a low 1%, why did I go straight into hypothyroidism and has taken 2 years to get level right at 225 mcg Levox.?  Also had carpal tunnel surgery on both wrist, obstructive/central sleep apnea, and narcolepsy since.  Considered very unusual case and 2 doctors have sent me to other Pulmonary Doctors.  Now with older doctor, who know his stuff.  At least seems too and not afraid of case.

Thanks for the reply:

Most of my medical issues are being treated at the VA hospital here in Jackson, MS.  They are not known for really over treating, if anything, with a Veteran they seem to take things pretty slow.  The sleep apnea is bi-pap at night and now that I have been diagnoised with Sarcoidosis of the lungs, oxygen attached to the bi-pap too.   And as for the Narcolepsy, I take 400 mg of Provigil two times a day.  Had to get special premission from insurance, usual dose is 200mg once or twice a day.

To be diagnoised for Narcolepsy I took a day sleep study.  I had to set up for about a hour, then try to take a nap for about a hour.  They have all those wires attached to your head and they can tell when you go into rem sleep.  Most people do not get to rem sleep with a day nap.  A Narcolepic will go directly to rem and dream.  That goes on for about 5 hours back and forth.

It could be with all the other medical issues you have you were being under or over treated. Also sleep issues make thyroid longer to heal. Are you being properly treated for N and SA?

My doc suspects I curently have N too- curious as how they actually diagnose it without doing a spinal tap?
