My situation is somewhat complicated. Yes, I have been hypothyroid, but I have Thyroid Erfa for hypothyroidism, and the medication is OK. But I may have also hyperparathyroidism. This may also affect sex drive. DHEA has been measured in my blood, and it is normal. B-12 is OK. The situation of D3 is complicated. Even doctors here are not of the same opinion, some say me not to take the vitamin pills, the others say that I should take more. Now I am taking 50 microg. During hyperparathyroidism people usually have low or normal values of D3 in their blood. That is also true for me (normal or slightly below).
Thyroid, and testosterone are NOT the only hormones that effect sex drive. Progesterone for one.
Your Doc is just tossing you off. So it is time to toss your Dr. off as well! Find another Dr.
Ask about DHEA as a possibility. Also there is a supplement called "Passion Rx" that reading about may offer you something to at least try. DHEA may have some side effects that must be taken seriously. Do not take more than about 5 mg of DHEA every other day or so at most. Frequently you will find DHEA in like 25 mg tablets which is much too high from what I've read. Body builders seem to take these and suffer some side effects.
As for your original question. I have to ask do you have a thyroid problem? That is are you Hypothyroid (low thyroid). People who have low thyroid often complain of low energy and low sex drive. So in those people sometime getting their thyroid at the proper levels will return them to "normal" sex drive and energy.
you may also want to check your Vitamin D3 and B-12 levels. Both of these are typically low with people who are also have low thyroid. And they both are related to energy levels and thus at least secondarily related to sex drive.
I think I am on the best dose of Thyroid but I have no sexual drive. I spoke to a gyno about this several years ago. Testosterone cannot be got. "It is usual that women at this age do not have drive". I got no help. I have a minimal persistent dose of oestrogen and some progesterone at intervals of three months.
I believe it can if your levels are right, however, have you spoken to a gyno about this? I know postmenopause affects ALOT of hormones.
I wish I had the answer because I am supposedly suffer from peri menopause. The only symptoms I have are the night sweats.
