Snythroid

I was wondering if my taking Synthroid makes me more sensitive to the sun.  I often get a rash on my face or arms or legs after being out in the sun.

Every year I go to florida for a month.  at first I build a decent tan but after a couple weeks  when i try to deepen my tan ,I get sunburn insted of a deeper tan.  My thyroid was removed almost 40 yrs ago due to graves disease and now its underactive.  Could taking A dose of synthroid daily cause that?

I've been on Synthroid for 23 years and have never had sensitivity to the sun.  I'm sure it can vary from person to person and also could vary depending on what combo of meds (if you are taking others) you are on.  Good luck to you.

When I was on Synthroid - I was sensitive to the sun - and yes I did have a rash like situation on my skin - I also found that after being in the sun I felt very swollen for a day or so.

I now am on Armour since November 2007 and I am waiting to see if I get that same rash feeling this year on a different med.

I remember being told to put on protection while in the sun.  But I'm not sure exactly why - could've had to do with the scar.  I know many meds in general make the skin more sensitive to the sun.  I've felt so more than I used to.

Hello, I been on synthroid since last november, and the Endo did say that there is one normal side efect that they see a rash, but I had never gotten it, I think the best thing is to talk to your Endo about it, Good Luck!!!

I am on synthroid and I do not have that symptom.  Curious, how long have you been on the synthroid and have they ever checked you for any auto-immune disorders?
