So many Questions

2003 I had my left thyroid removed due to a 5cm nodule. It was deemed to be a follicular adenoma.  TSH levels before and after surgery were all within normal range.  Became symptomatic 6 weeks after surgery and did my best to get doctors attention.  In 2007 I went to my PCM complaining of eye pain behind the eyes.  Test revealed TSH of 5.83 (not very bad) started me on 25mcg and 3 months later put on 50 mcg. Still was symptomatic, doctor put me on 75mcg and I felt great, upon follow up, doctor lowered me back down to 50mcg because my labs on the 75 was .01.

Currently:

I have migraines with the behind the eye socket pain on and off.

I seem to get up one day and have a strange symptom, it will hang around from anywhere 2 to 20 days.  Then it just disappears.  Example: I had no headache but noticed double vision when reading any text.  This continued for 2 weeks.  I had on and off eye pain but no migraine, nauseated also.  All of a sudden after the two weeks all gone.  I went about 5 days fine, then I awoke and both my kidneys are hurting.  Doesn't hurt to go to the bathroom but kidneys really hurt.  This has happened before and it went away.

I don't understand why I'm having so many weired symptoms?

I forgot to add that this past year my doctor put me on mega dose of Vitamin D because mine was low.  Now I'm taking over the counter Caltrate 600/400  (600 calcium, 400 Vitamin D)

My TSH levels are between 2.0 and 3.0 this is why I do not understand why I am so symptomatic except to think that since it took 3 years of being symptomatic of hypothyorid before my TSH showed it wasn't producing perhaps my TSH is slugging out but not enough to stay in a range to where the labs show.  Since it pulsates throughout the day maybe when I'm getting my blood work done my thyroid just happened to function better then other days?

My belly, midsection, feet swell up for no rhyme or reason, my diet is decent.  Not perfect but I don't do tomatoes!

Any suggestions?

I know my FT4 is in the normal range (lower end) T3 is in normal range also (lower end)  Antibody test showed no antibodies.

I'm at a loss.

What do you mean take iodine?

If 50mcg isn't strong enough and 75 mcg is too strong what should the doctor do to get me to that sweet spot?

all your labs would clearly point to you being symptomatic to your hypothyroidism.

Take a look at your lab archives and other posts. You will see most patients with treatment are not able to maintain those labs and feel well.

TSH - is - should be 1.0 or below

FT3 = high end

FT4 - mid/high

These are optimal levels and you need to find your sweet spot on those where you feel well to stabilize your condition

I forgot to add my last FT4 and FT3 ranges

FT4 0.83  (0.71-1.85)
FT3 1.09  (0.6-1.74
