Sonogram missed the goiter?

by TSHxx, Nov 03, 2009 03:20PM
I had a sonogram done on my thyroid by a radiologist, and he said there was nothing there.  Yet I still have the "pill stuck in my throat" feeling.  If its a goiter, would they see it on a sonogram or are they easy to "miss"?

They usually can see a goiter on the U/s but i guess anything is possible, I had the stuck in throat feeling back 25 years ago but my gland was not enlarged  then that was picked up only 5 months ago, so i believe you can have this feeling even if its not enlarged yet.. I also have this feeling from Hashimoto disease The specialist said it was the inflammation of this giving me this feeling, what were your blood results?

I have not seen an endocrinologist yet but my TSH level was 71.

Was that TSH a 71 or a 7.1?

Either way, you really should be on thyroid hormone - now!

I do not have a large goiter, but my thyroid Isthmus is twice normal size, making it difficult to swallow.

Yes, some radiologists aren't perfect. Just like doctors!
