Sore Left Underarm Area

As most of you know, I had surgery nearly four weeks ago (partial) and got my cancer diagnosis this week. :(

I have a questions: I noticed the last couple of days that my left underarm area is a little sore, maybe not sore, but uncomfortable.  I have felt around, but there arent any lumps.

Can anyone shed some light?  I dont know if I'm overreacting, but I'm thinking the cancer has spread into my lymph nodes in my underarm area and thats it for me...

Just an update - I saw my family physician today and she checked my underarm and was not concerned.  She said she could feel no swollen lymph nodes and could see nothing to worry about.  She said it could be stress.  She is s worse case scenario kind of doctor, so when she says she's not concerned, its a big relief.

I will keep an eye on it (it still feels "uncomfortable") but am a little less worried about it.  Now back to my thyroid cancer worries...

Can it be that time of the month .. I went to a Dr. once and she reassured me it was tissue collection with fluid!  But definitely address with your doc .. I was thinking maybe some drainage making its way dowwwwwwwwwwn from the neck as it reabsorbs would be a really good guess but may be way off base and I'm not a doc of course :)

Glad you asked!  Let us know what the Dr. says ...

regarding sore left underarm, I had/have the exact same pain. Like you say - not really sore - just uncomfortable and always seems to be "there". I have a small nodule on the right lobe of my thyroid but FNA is scheduled for a few days from now. I thought it might be cardiac related but that has been eliminated as a possibility. Interestingly, just knowing that it isn't cardiac has had a significantly relieving impact. Also, an upper GI done while we were trying to find my "problem" indicated I had acid reflux. Do you happen to notice that the discomfort is sometimes associated with just a touch of indigestion (like little puffs of air releasing every now and then)?

Much of my issues mught be related to anxiety which the thyroid seems to help me create. Seems like everything I read indicates that thyroid cancer is somewhat rare but is also very treatable. Maybe you might just have a little indigestion and/or anxiety?

I've had CT scans, chest x-rays, about 20 blood tests, an upper GI and an ultrasound. There's nothing so far been indentified that is causing my discomfort so I am beginning think it is just "me" and my own anxiety.

Your mind will play games on you especially after your diagnosis.  I was convinced that my tumors were growing and spreading in the 7 weeks I waited from diagnosis to surgery.  The level of anxiety is tremendous.Take care.
