Starving and Exhuasted

by shannon828, Jan 15, 2009 01:10PM
Woohoo, on the LID again (hasn't even been a year since my first foray into the saltless, tasteless world of pre-scan/treatment bliss) and starving to death.  I have extraordinarily high metabolism (always have and it didn't change with TT) so everything that I can actually eat on LID literally gets digested in 15 minutes, at which point I am completely starving and left with the same limited choices I had 15 minutes ago.  Anyway, I'm also extremely tired and I'm wondering if it's just because I'm hungry or if it's the lack of iodine itself.  I know that the body uses iodine to make thyroid hormone, could a lack of it be putting me in a mild hypothyroid state regardless of my replacement dosage?   I don't know, but I feel terrible and cannot concentrate.  I'm actually wondering how I am going to make it another 15 days until my scan like this.  I wasn't working last time I was on LID and so maybe I'm just tired and stressed?  I dunno.  Any feedback appreciated.  Thanks!

Oh, dear.  Saltless, tasteless and limited choices doesn't exactly sound like gourmet faire, does it!

I can't answer your question about the lack of iodine and going into a hypo state but do know when I've ever eaten a low salt diet in the past I've felt tired.

Hope the time goes by quickly and this is your very last go-around.  Hang in there and take care.

(Is plain beef acceptable?  I had wondered that recently.)

I understand! They had me on it for 10 days; My scan is tomorrow.  I'm nervous, but oh so anxious to have a regular meal tomorrow.  The scan is at 10:30, then I have an u/s at 1:30... so in between those two appts I hope to have a good meal!  The best thing I found in the LID cookbook (on thyca) was a chocolate cake... that, and some sips of disarrono have made it much more bearable!  Good luck with yours.  This is my first post-thyca scan; I had a 2.5cm nodule and a 4mm nodule, then 126mc of I-131... Hoping it did the job and I won't need further treatment.  There was no spread.. hopefully that's working in my favor!
