Steroids and Hashimoto's

I have had Thyroid problems off and on for about 8yrs now. My GP recently diagnosed me with hashimotos....I started having sharp stabbing shotting pains in my fingers and wrist and charlie horse like cramps in my legs and hands and feet, waking up 3-4 times a night having to change my clothes because i was sweating so bad i had completely saturated my clothes and bed. Well he put me on steroids which fixed the problem till i was off the steroids so he sent me to a rheumatologist who said it was because of  the hashimotos and he put me on more steroids... decided to go see an endrocrinologist who said the pains were not related to my thyroid and had no answer other then increase my levothyroxine. Pains returned in much fuller force went back to my GP who put me back on steroids and recommmended I stay on steroids for 1yr to trick my immune system?!?!?  I dont like being on steroids they make me very edgy but I dont know how to make the pains stop.... I wake up crying Im in so much pain when Im not on the steroids. Ive been researching on the internet and I dont see any one else taking steroids unless they are having hallucenations with their thyroid issue... ( none of those here )  does anyone elses doctor have them on steroids? How long am I really going to have to be on the steroids for? Please help

Have you had your Free T3 level checked with your TSH and Free T4?? I had terrible terrible joint pains until I went on an added T3 med with my T4. Some people have conversion issues and it is hard for their bodies to convert T4 to T3 which is the most active hormone in the body for thyroid.
I wouldn't want to be on steriods daily either.
