Still feeling out of it- What is normal anymore!?!

It's been 2 1/2 weeks since my levoxyl increase and I feel nothing this time. I usually feel great for 2wks then fall down again. I had one great day after this increase and have felt nothing since. I'm struggling with extreme fatigue and muscle achiness and brain fog in total extreme. I am more depressed today!
I am soooooooooooooo sick and tired of being sick and tired. When will this rollercoaster end?............I need about 3mths to do absolutely nothing except take care of my body & mind. I feel once again that I am slipping further and further away from reality.I am only functioning on stress & basic instincts at this point.

I don't wanna be on the crazy train anymore!!

end of vent................ hey did someone say they were cooking chicken?!

Hope the Xanax works for well for you.  Been on it before, but didn't like the hangover feel it gave me.  If you decide to try a antidepressant again Celexa is the one to try.  It has virtually no side affects on most people and it also contains an anti anxiety med, so it stop the roller coaster.  The other good thing about it is that it's an old drug so there are generics that are just as good, but really cheap.   I don't think I'll ever try to switch again, am a pretty happy clam... uh, sorry, chicken! ;)

Hope you feel better soon, get a lot of rest while you can.

thanks so much for responding. I was very down yesterday and the roller coaster is getting to be a drag!
I have a full plate as far as stress goes at home right now & a stressful idiot at the office as well and I feel like I can catch a moments peace.
I had to stop taking lexapro because I had some weird side effects. my dr. and I both felt it was not necessary for me to be on a daily med but instead she prescribed xanax on an as needed basis. I did take one last nite before going to bed, I got more rest than the last few days and today so far I am on an even keel.
I do think I just need some time for myself. I have the next 5days off from work and am hoping to relax and take my time with everything. I am going to relearn how to enjoy the smell of roses again!  Hopefully I will remember how to do it!

Hey dac--- I bought a chicken to cook tonite-  all this chicken & gravy talk has me HUNGRY!!!!

Yep, I'm the one cookin' the chicken! =)  Come on over!!  Wouldn't it be cool to all get together and have a big ole thyroid picnic?!  As much as we type we could talk for days!!!!  The best thing would be that when someone said, "The other day when I went to . . . . " no one would think anything about it! ;)  We'd just look at each other and think *BRAIN FOG*.  Wouldn't that be cool?  We could wear our "WAS THAT A CHICKEN?" t-shirts and our thyroid ribbons.

Maybe we could set all our unsupportive spouses down in a big circle and have the supportive give them the treatment (don't know what that means) for the way they've treated us!  This is sounding like more fun by the moment!!

Just now starting to find some normal again in the last few days.  Have had no concept of it for these 7+ years until now.  Hang in there, it will get better!

There is absolutely no reason not to take antidepressants while you are going through thyroid.  It is very common practice to give people with dibilitating or serious illnesses antidepressants at onset to help combat such things.  I have been on them for clinical depression for a long time, and all they did with mine was increase them to help me more.  Tell them you have to have them that you can't cope anymore!  Stand your ground!!!

Hey there-
Life is hard and even harder when your body just says "no"! But we have to say "yes"! When we get so wrapped up in our problems we go CRAZY! I know exactly what you mean about brain fog. Its like my head is cloudy and everything around me is there but my perception of "everything" is off! Sometimes I feel like I am losing my mind, I forget things within seconds, and dont ask me about something that happened a couple of days ago! I really hate it when Im put on the spot and am at a lost for words! Its hard to remember regular words! I cant stand going into crowded malls, my mind goes into over drive and furstration sets in! It drives me CRAZY! But I dont want to be CRAZY so I try to look on the brighter side of things.

Its okay to cry, to vent, to let it all out!!! I dont even know what normal is anymore myeslf, i just know what  life is and how precious it is, so smile god doesnt give us anything we cant bear!

Dont give up ((((@@))))

Forgot to mention that when you ask for, or demand ;), an antidepressant you need to ask for one that also treats anxiety.  Something like Celexa, Paxil, Lexapro, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Cymbalta, etc.  I've been on all of them and more and am back to Celexa again as it has the least amount of known side affects and I've had a problem with all of them except it.  For anyone who wants to quit smoking also Wellbutrin would be the one to go with.  It contains bupropion which is the med they give in the hospital when you have a heart attack to stop the nicotine crazings.  If you take it make sure to keep a close eye on blood pressure.  Paxil can and does increase appetite a lot of the time, so anyone who is hypo will probably want to avoid this one.

There are lots of choices, and sometimes it takes going through a bunch of different ones for you to find the one that works the best.  My experience also taught me never to do more than a 1 month fill on them as I may need to change soon.

Just an after thought.  Am really tired today so am spending way too much time on here.

Hi Teresa,

I know how you feel except I'm hyperthyroid. I called my doctor yesterday to insist that I be checked for adrenal fatigue. He hasn't called me back yet. I was prescribed a sleep med for my insomnia but it doesn't work. I am going crazy, irritable as hell, and soooo tired. I also get super-depressed but doc won't prescribe me antidepressants, which I guess I understand.
