Strange Thyroid Test Results

On July 21st my TSH was 1.03, free T4 1.0 and free T3 2.46---all in the normal range.
On September 15th my TSH was 2.94, free T4 1.1 and free T3 4.57---increasing TSH & free T3
On October 20th my TSH was 5.54, free T4 1.1 and free T3 5.97---increasing & abnormally high TSH & T3.  My antibodies were tested at this time and found to be normal.  I do have mild to moderate ankylosing spondylitis and take prednisone but do not take any other immuno-suppressants. My doctor is bewildered because these values do not fit with any thyroid dysfunction.  Does anyone have any solid ideas?

Or, if you have a high count of Reverse T3, it may be blocking out a large percentage of your Free T3.

Your TSH goes up because your cells are calling for T3, and your body produces as much Free T3 as possible, but it isn't getting into your cells.

It's a stab in the dark.

I don't know if Reverse Free T3 shows up as Free T3 in a Free T3 test or not.

If Reverse Free T3 shows up as part of the Free T3 in the test, tehn the Free T3 value would be falsly elevated and the TSH might be correct.

I have no idea if that can happen, but it's the only thing I can think of.
