Sun poisoning.

I have hyperthyroidism and have had it for 23 years and I'm 38. I have been on every dose of Synthroid and my TSH was 66 on 300mcg. I am now taking 5 1grain Armour Thyroid  pills a day. This year I have had sun poisoning three times and have had sunscreen on. I'm super sensitive for some reason this year. I also have dark skin spots on my face. Getting annoyed. Has anyone else had these problems??

My bottle of Levoxyl says do not take antacids or products containing calcium or iron within 4 hours of taking this product.

It's interesting to note that I'm in the process of changing pharmacies and the new pharmacy has no warnings on the bottle, but did have the warning about the calcium and iron in the printed insert that came with the prescription.

Neither mentioned sunlight or sunlamps.

I used burn very badly before I corrected my vitamin B12 levels.  Of interest I found that the term "redneck "comes from a vitamin B deficiency that causes heightened susceptibility to sunburns. I also have brown spots on my skin, including my face, from B12 malabsorption as well.

Also, of interest, when I picked up my eutroxsig (synthetic T4) prescription from the pharmacy this time there was two stickers on it. I wasn't surprised to see the calcium/iron warning (although they crossed out dairy products in pen) but the sun warning was unexpected.

Avoid excessive skin exposure to sunlight and sunlamps while being treated with this medication.

Do not take dairy products, antacids, iron, or calcium supplements within two hours of each dose of this medication.
