I'm confused as what I should do about my thyroid nodule.
Here is transcript from my ultrasound.
There is a large solid nodule arising from the mid to lower portion of the right lobe of the thyroid. This is quite well circumscribed with a halo appearance about its margin. It has dimensions of 4.2 x 2.5 x 2.8cm. It has a slightly heterogeneous echotexture and is entirely solid. Some blood flow was identified within it, although blood flow was more marked around the periphery of the nodule.
I too had a suspicious nodule I had it removed this past Jan.... the peace of mine having it out was well worth the surgery... mine did thankfully come back benignBenign ear cyst or tumor Benign positional vertigo. I would have it out again.. just for the sanity. My remaining thyroid is not functioning completely now. I am begging for meds to be back to norm. =)
but despite that I would still do all over again!
Surgery was very easy ... recovery is extremely fast and not hardly any pain just a lil stiff neck and sore throat. Good luck in your decision. I however could not continue to not know whether I was letting cancer grow. Most are 85% benign keep that in mind. I am sure more people will post many.. many experiences here benign and cancer. You will be just fine !
I also have a complex, dominant nodule with a normal functioning thyroid. Mine is about 2.5cm- I am having a biopsy Thursday. From what I understand, if it is inconclusive or cancer, I will have to have surgery. If it is benign, it will be watched for 6mo. to determine if it has grown. Surgery looks inevitable right now, whether it is now or later. I have a thin neck and if it grows any more, it will definitely be very apparent. Good luck.......
I also had nodules and the FNA report stated possible microfollicular neoplasm and recommended further clinical study ( ie. surgery to removed the right lobe). So I had a partial thyroidectomy Feb12. The pathology report 10 days post surgery reported a 6 mm. papillary carcinoma. I'll have the rest of the thyroid removed on May 10. The surgery is not too bad....I went SCUBA diving 5 weeks after the first surgery.
I'll be glad when this is all behind me and I can start feeling 'normal' again.
Good luck. Linda

I did a FNA and it came back inconculsive. I'm wondering if I should do another one?
