Laura ~ Honestly, they told me in the hospital that it's rare for that to happen. Most of their patients can swallow water before they leave the hospital. Leave it to me!!!
Venora ~ again, I'm cracking up here!!! It's kind of like a bow, right? That would be a great way to greet each other. Unless of course, I wind up choking and spewing the water all over the place like I sometimes do!!!!
Pam ~ I'm SO thankful to finally get some water down!! I was so thirsty, and not for anything that was cherry, lime, grape.....you know what I mean. It tasted SO good!
Dac ~ What do you mean? That IS the secret shake!! hahahaa
Lori
The swallowing problems sounds a little scary to me...I'm scheduled for surgery next Tuesday the 21st...
Laura
Glad to hear you got some liquids in your body finally...Take Care-Pam
No secret hand shake for us, huh? LOL
hey that could be how the chicken club members greet each other.Drink, bend swallow.ROFLMAO at the visual
Love Venora
I had maybe 2 days of problems after surgery with fluids. Then if I used a straw and tipped my chin down to my chest I could drink whatever. ( of course I burned my tongue a LOT trying to suck coffee thru a straw!)
It really depends on the person. Some dont have any problems, some its fluids....some its food.
But I would ice your neck as much as you can to help with swelling......that helps some too.
are you scheduled for surgery?
I'm glad you're starting to get some fluids down - even if you have to look funny doing it :)
Is the trouble with swallowing something normal that happens after this surgery? My surgeon didn't say anything about that as one of the after effects of the surgery...he only mentioned the voice thing...
They felt bad last night, but aren't up yet to hear me (or better yet, NOT hear me) this morning. Don't you worry, my froggie friend. I definitely know how to use this to my advantage. I could get LOTS of stuff done around the house today!! :-) I love it......someone who thinks JUST like I do, plus has a twisted sense of humor to boot! We'd have a lot of fun, I'm sure - and you're only a state away from me!
Lori- If I was you I would lay a HUGE guilt trip on them. LOL Got any extra cleaning you want done today??? :-)
What a party you all had after I went to bed!! This drinking problem of mine.....can't you just see me at meeting? "Hello, my name is Lori and I have a drinking problem. When I take a drink, I have to bend over to swallow it. You know, like the little bird?". Seriously though, even though it looks funny and is somewhat a pain (obviously, I can't take my drink along with me in the car), I'm SO happy to finally get some liquids that aren't all sugary in me. Just picture me with my coffee this morning, girls!!
Dart ~ I love the t-shirt idea. You know, you could probably sell a lot of those!!!!
Dac ~ my kids tell me I'm strange sometimes too. I just tell them to watch out, because it's in the genes!! Honestly, we all have a real goofy sense of humor and I love it.
Speaking of kids, my little angels who are old enough to know better (17 and 15) got into a major brawl last night and I ended up yelling (yeah right.....trying to yell that is) at them. Serious face, I have NO voice this morning. None.....zero.....ziltch. I'm TICKED!! It was getting so much better too. Gotta love teenage boys!!
Thanks for the laughs,
Lori
Glad to hear you solved your drinking problem!!! Isn't it amazing how much we miss something when we can't have it!!! Hope you feel better soon!
Dart frog - I may have to borrow your NWS warning about brain fog....I'm RITFLMAO at that comment. I need to post that on my desk at work!!
oh my!!!!! and I cant spell worth a **** either!!! LOL
Im going to have a new t-shirt made up. It will read :
The national weather service has issued a sever fog warning for my brain....please excuse my behavior
I am always telling my daughter " I am NOT weird....Im uniqely different"
Will the t-shirts come in super large? LOL Think I need one of these. You could sell that at the chicken club meeting!
I have to remember I'm uniquely different!! My 10-yr-old niece and my 7-yr-old-pain-in-the-butt son always tell me I'm weird, too. Whatta they know anyway? =)
Am having trouble typing am laughing so hard! Oh, my stomach hurts! I am really loopey this weekend, too. I think it's the heat. OMGosh, I am picturing this woman in the bird's place. Gonna be hard to go to sleep tonight with this picture in my head!!!
remember those gag toys you could get....little glass bird who would fall over, get a drink, then bounce back up...only to do it all over again??????
Thats what I pictured when I read your post LOL
THEN...I could just see you doing that at a resturant and on your way back "up" knocking over some waiter bringing a HUGE tray of food out!!!
sorry......brain is kinda loopey tonight LOL
At LEAST your getting fluids down!!!! Thats the important part :-)
Girl, you crack me up!!! I DO remember those toys!!! And just so you know, I like loopey. Believe me, I've been called "twisted" more than once, so I can totally relate to that sense of humor!!!
I know....can't you just see it now? Every time I take a drink, I have to stand up and bend over?? Cracks me up just thinking about it. The good thing is, I can get some liquids down that aren't sugary jello, popsicles, etc. Water tastes sooooooo good these days!! My voice is still weak, especially if I talk a lot (which I love to do). I hope that continues to improve as well.
Well, at least it's going down! I'm LOL at the picture of doing this in a restaurant!!! =)
