Swelling of hands and face

Hi, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid over a month ago.  I go to doc in 4 days for the results of my thyroid uptake and scan and latest blood tests results.  I was on beta blockers, but over the past few weeks I have noticed that my heart rate is slower than it was, and I'm not as shaky so I take 12.5 or 25 mg of beta blocker now from 50mg.  Over the past week I have noticed my hands and face are swollen.  It's worse in the morning and I wouldn't call it severe, but its noticeable to me.  Is this a symptom of hyper or hypo?  Docs first thought postpartum thyroiditis, but sent me for the uptake and scan to make sure.  Also, is there anything I can do about the swelling in the meantime?

All of those thyroid labs were done, I get the results back this Wednesday.  The beta blockers were given to me when it was confirmed via labs that I am/was hyperthyroid for fast heart rate.  Doc told me I could have postpartum thyroiditis, graves or hash.  I have never had thyroid problems before.  Doc also told me I could go hypo and then normalize or be hypo forever.  I think that is what is happening now.
As for the vitamins, I take a multi vitamin, can I add the vitamins mentioned on top of the multi?

The doctor only gave you beta blockers for this?  A dx of hyperthyroidism usually includes a script of anti-thyroid meds like methamozole also or maybe a PTU.

The doctor may have a conclusion due to a recent birth that you are in a temporary abnormal function with thyroid. This is common when a birth happens and it can resolved for some.

My concern if you want to move forward would be to make sure the doctor is analyizing the right labs and also running autoimmune thyroid testing to see if this is cause by a high anitbody Graves TSI level. Then treatment would be slightly different.

For the swelling  usually that is something related to a hypo issue and beta blockers can slow things some and could I suppose lessen thyroid levels to make you now hypo but something else must be going on to allow you to rise and dip. I'd lean to think you should do some serious reading about deficiencies and see where you fall.

The common defiicies to cause swelling would be Vit B - potassium - Vit C - zinc, copper and magnesium. Also iodine deficiency can fall in that also.

Have the doctor run new thyroid labs to include the Free T3 - Free T4 - TSH and TSI - w/ TPOab and TgAb labs...

A swelling issue is also associated with a high estrogen count too. and Poor insulin conversion.
