Swollen neck .. glands?? every month

I really doubt this is thyroid related -

Every month 2 weeks prior to my cycle which may be during ovulation.

My neck or glands swell. Sometimes on the left - sometimes on the right. This month right side.

It starts out with a stiff neck (as I have described in the past) The pains in the gland area and in the back get unbelievable. Then the swelling starts.

It starts to radiate heat (I guess inflammation) where my neck actually turns red. The swelling this month is visable - it looks like I have the mumps or absessed tooth. The pain radiates though my upper back right in the middle and into my LEFT arm. It is uncomfortable now for 3 months to wear necklaces or anything around my neck.

I also have afternoon hoarseness with a feeling of being very dry in my throat no matter how much liquid I drink.

Now I start to get relief somewhat when I get my Girl thing.  Of course I have looked up my symptoms and they go anywhere from nothing to cancer. It just baffles me.

Does anyone know if hormones can bring this type of thing on?  I apply ice / heat. Rubbed oil and massage it. I still get it. Was tested for RA - normal.

I even feel as though I am swelling in the lungs too. Like it is tough to take deep breaths. I have said it before - It is like I got hit by a truck and just can't figure it out.

That fluid retention thing I got that one licked pretty good with the magnesium citrate - I don't feel like that anymore.

Thypatient -

So again we have similar symptoms. Geez.... when will it end. When did your end or do you still have that going on?

Well I broke down and called my doctors office - told them I look like a chipmunk on the right side of my jaw and neck and I want to come in - or get some help.

They just called back ( fastest call I ever got - which I waited for 3 hrs) OVER THE PHONE they called in a z-pac and it will be ready soon.

It's a miracle - or there just sick of me! - but they were nice and said if it is not better by Monday to call.

If only they knew what kind of a weekend I have coming up - Prom for my son - 16th Birthday for my other - 40th surprise birthday for my brother. My boss' daughter's wedding.

Geez - why this weekend!!!!

Did you ever figure out what it was? I have these exact symptoms and I’m concerned

There you go again, describing patterns similar to what I had - symptoms that would appear before, but then get relieved upon arrival of my Girl thing.  I don't know, maybe it's just part of having any aspect of glandular diseases.

Hope you get more responses.

I get terrible pains around my chest particularly just before the girl thing and last week I could hardly breathe in or out the pain was so bad, but I don't get swollen glands. But I do get it frequently each month. As you know I'm on a premature menopause and the doc told me the fluctuating hormones cause all types of painy fluey symptoms particularly before or during the girly thing. I also personallyn think some of this stuff is  caused also by fluid retention in the tissues, as it is quite common to get this following ovulation and right up to when the girly thing starts. Hope this may be of help to you. Rite
