I've been taking Synthroid for many years. Two months ago when I went to pick up my prescription the pharmacy asked, "is synthetic OK?" and I said "I guess so." Just this weekend I realized that that might be the cause of my increasing tiredness and geneal malaise -- is this possible?
You should not accept a generic if your perscription is for Synthroid. The generic contains different inert ingredients, and the strength of the generic is not as uniform as the brand name.
Is it Synthroid, or is it Levothyroxine?
They are both synthetic. Synthroid is a brand name. Levothyroxine is the generic form of the same drug.
