Synthoid/Hypo Journey... Advice Needed

I'm a 40 year old female suffering with Hypo for the last few years.  I was diagnosed after a routine physical where I noted I was having weird bloating, zero libido, inexplicable weight gain despite working out hard core 4-5 days week and severe mental fog affecting my work.  I was put on a low dose of Levo for about 6 months (25 mcg) which helped some, but the weight gain persisted.  I decided it was time to see a specialist and this is where things REALLY went downhill.  I met with the new doctor who ran all of my blood work again.  I explained all the symptoms I was having.  She started me on Synthroid and I feel like I've had poison in my body ever since.  I really wanted this to work, so I shrugged off the side effects visit after visit and just powered through each day.  I started to bloat up even bigger with my weight topping out at over 200 lbs (40 lbs in 6 months).  The mental fog came and went and I started developing severe digestive issues (colitis).  With each visit she would take new blood work and up my Synthroid dose with zero explantation.  I tried several times to get her to listen to no avail.  I asked her if there was anything else I could try in terms of meds and she said flat out "no".  I brought up adrenal fatigue and cortisol and she shot me down saying these are "buzz words" in discussion threads.  I brought up dessicated hormone, she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about.  I told her my mental fog was worse and she told me to go see a neurologist.  I was almost in tears over the weight gain and she instructed me to try Weight Watchers.   Needless to say, I did not go back for the next follow up appointment.  My trust in doctors has been shaken.  I've stopped all usage of Synthroid and have resulted to books (Stop the Thyroid Madness) and discussion threads to diagnose and treat myself, which some would say is dangerous.  Instead of just treating the symptoms of this issue, I want to make my thyroid operate properly again.  Doctors want you to remain symptomatic so they can make money off of you.  If you heal yourself, their revenue stops.  With that said, I'm wondering if anyone else has a success story where you took matters into your own hands or finally found a doctor or naturepath who listened and actually helped?  What worked for you?

Before getting into a discussion of your situation, please post your last couple of sets of thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.  Also, what was your highest dosage of Synthroid?  Have you ever been tested for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin?
