Does anyone have any idea, why synthroid would be prescribed to a patient, that is hyperthyroid other then reducing thyroid ??
Jan 14, it was confrimed I am extremely hyperthyroid. The uptake doc, said luckily I never took Synthroid prescribed.
Well my symptoms have been getting worse, so my mom visit the directors office, at the hospital today, the directors office contacts my Endo, and he tells them, my thyroid levels are hypo/hyper, I need to take the Synthroid prescribed until I see him next week.
I am completely lost, baffled, and have no idea how thyroid medications work. But wouldn't Synthroid increase my already sensitive hyper levels. I trust the uptake scan doc, more then my Endo.
If you are Hyper, then taking Synthroid could take you 'over the edge'.
Do as Stella says and get your lab results.
I know I wouldnt take it if I was Hyper.
And I would be asking myself why I should take Synthroid if the appointment is only a week away????
Thanks for your kind, caring thoughts. It's been a very long journey, for myself and many people suffering thryoid conditions. And I hope we all recover, back to full health as soon as possible.
Thanks everyone, for replies. I'm convinced Doctors & Endo's are clueless, in treating thyroid conditions, that's scary, YIKES !!!
What I have learned throught my journey is, Doctors & Endo's do not take the time to listen to patients. Everything that is shared, goes through one ear and out the other. They just review lab results, and completely ignore the patient. My case is the perfect example.
Now I'm wondering if they even, pay attention to lab reults or reports from other specialist, cause my Endo tells me to continue taking Synthroid !!
Most of us have heard, continue to take your med, and see me next week, I haven't heard a word you said, but you should be fine.
I would post up my labs, but until Jan 13 , 2009 labs, I haven't had a blood test on my thyroid since July 2008 !! Uptake scan doc told me.
So my doctor & Endo has been lying to me all this time, everything is normal. Reason when I picked up my medical records, I posted a question as to what I need to post, cause all I saw was TSH, that's it.
Good luck to everyone !! Wish everyone best health !
