Synthroid Sensitivity??

I have been on Synthroid for about 15 years and have noticed that if I miss one dose, I feel great the next day. I have more energy, and more stamina throughout the day. If I miss any more than one day, I'm super tired. I have my TSH, T3, and T4 checked regularly and have felt fatigue and every other common hypo symptom since I was diagnosed with Hoshimoto's 15 years ago. Nothing seems to make me feel better, other than missing a dose of Synthroid from time to time. Has anyone else experienced a similar scenario?

Yes, thinning hair can be a symptom of both hypo and hyper.   Most frequently it is a symptom of being hypo.

What were those hyper symptoms you mentioned?

I have been on synthroid for 18 years.  Right now my tsh is 0.0409 range is 0.300-3.000.  I have been experiencing hyper symptoms.  Can you not take for a couple of days and then resume your dosage.  He told me to take 100mcg for 6 days and 88 for one day.  If I take 88 for two days it makes my tsh to hypo...I try to stay around 1.0.  I have hashimoto's which makes my body crazy.  My stomach, legs and even feet and toes swell...can this happen when you are hyper...hair loss too.  LISA

Never experienced anything like that, but it makes me wonder if you have some reaction to the filler material in Synthroid.  Also, missing two days wouldn't typically reduce your T4 level enough to be noticeable, but then some patients are more sensitive than others.

As for feeling better, that is usually a matter of getting your Free T3 high enough in the range to relieve symptoms.  If you will post your thyroid test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report, members will be able to comment on the adequacy of your testing and treatment.
