Synthroid and High Blood Pressure

I have been Hypothyroid for about 10 years, and have been on Synthroid all this time. I get my blood tested annually, and my doctor has raised my Synthroid throughout this time. I was on 50mcg's for many years, then about 2 years ago he raised me to 75, then last year to 88. When he increases my dosage, He always has me come back in 30 days to test my blood (TSH) and make sure the numbers are within range. Last year, after the 30 days on the increased dosage of 88 mcg's, my TSH was 3.58. This year (May, 2008) my annual blood test showed my TSH level at 11.2. He increased my dosage to 100 mcg's, then 30 days later increased it again to 112 mcg's, and just recently he increased it to 125 mcg's. On July 2nd I went to the doc and my blood pressure was higher than normal for me. My norm forever has been around 120/80. On July 2, it was 135/85. The next day it was 130/80, and 2 days later it was 130/80. My questions are these: Why do you suppose my TSH jumped so drastically from years 2007-2008? AND should I be concerned about my blood pressure? My doc thinks that my body is getting adjusted to the increase in Synthroid, and will hopefully settle down with time. What do you think?

The HBP could be from being hypo in itself.

Your TSH last year of 3.58 was too high. It should be below 2, preferably around 1. The normal progression of the disease will require dose increases from time to time. Do you have Hashimoto's (hypothyroidism with thyroid antibodies)?

When is your next blood test?
