Synthroid anyone?

This might be an odd question but today is my 3rd day on Synthroid (I have Hashimoto's) and I know I have to wait at least 4 weeks to feel the effects.
I'm really impatient and I noticed something different today at the gym.

usually i do HIIT Cardio on the elliptical machine when I'm not training, and I NEVER sweat and my heart rate never goes above 170 until the END of my cycle.
Today was different, I could feel sweat coming down my face and my heart rate was already hitting 170 towards my first cycle (I never hit that number on my first cycle and I do 4 cycles for 27 minutes)

Does that mean that my poor metabolism is working? maybe a little bit better already?  i read that sweat and heart rate are indicators of good metabolism.

I just really can't wait  to be normal and  have my energy levels up, get my sleep right, and get the muscle weakness out of my life once and for all.
thanks!

Taking T4 only. Not everyone will do well on T4 only however. This is a bit of an experiment for what works best for you.

Hi. I noticed in one of your replies that your symtoms are very similar to mine...breathing issues, chest pain, dizziness, muscle fatigue.  How are you treating?  Just T4?  Combo?  Natural thyroid?

Thanks!

If someone said severe obesity or severe bradypnea...bring on the body fat! LOL

You'll get those results eventually but hypothyroidism likes to take it's time and mess with you a bit first. :)

hey reply long overdue....
today is officially my second week on synthroid....it's in the blood by now...
fatigue is getting better, muscle weakness better.... weight gain (no change) , motivation (no change), depression (no change), constipation (no change), swelling (changes on certain days) ...
by far the worse symptom is the weight gain, I can deal with anything else but the weight gain is a deal breaker for me. See, Im a very competitive person and when I put in the time and effort I expect results, with hashi's disease it input does not equal output = depression. know what i mean?
makes me feel and act cynical and apathetic. Im not much fun to be around nowadays ...

It was interesting to hear you mention and describe bradypenna as I had that symptom, too, but didn't know what it was or with what it was associated. I just remember thinking that sometimes I felt like I didn't have enough energy to breathe.

My #1 worst symptom of hypothyroidism is severe bradypnea. At my worst, breathing dropped down to 6 breaths a minute. No matter how deeply I breathed in I could not get enough air so I had extreme shortness of breath which is panic inducing.  Other symptoms included extreme exhaustion doing anything, feeling really out of it, drowsy, dizziness/almost fainted, chest pains.

What's yours?

I didn't sweat at all with hypothyroidism. I would forget to put on deodorant lol. It sounds like some small effects are happening for you so far. :)

wow! the 3rd day? well i don't think im hyper by any means and i certainly don't feel "on the go" just yet but like i said i was curious about the sweating and the heart rate going up faster in a shorter amount of time than before...

still curious but i haven't found anything online!!

I could actually say it took much longer than that, because I've been on thyroid medication since early 2008 and my metabolism has just "normalized" enough since the beginning of this year to allow me to lose 22 lbs... otherwise, I've been struggling since 2008, on some type of T4 med and I've had T3 added to it since early 2009...

My story is long and I struggled, in the beginning of my dx, with a doctor who "loved" the TSH and was scared to death of mine at < 0.01 so he kept me ill (under medicated) for a very long time.  I have some journals written in the early days... if you ever have some time extra time, take a look at them.

Wow, I don't remember hearing that it took two years for you to notice much improvement in your metabolism, I've only been on it for five months, maybe I need to give it more time. My question is about armour natural desiccated thyroid supplement; for someone who maybe needs less levothyroxine than what I'm taking, but more T3, would it maybe be a good option for me? I might be able to talk my PP into prescribing that.

It takes 4-6 weeks for levothyroxine to reach full potential in your blood, but you may start feeling small improvements before that... It took about 2 yrs before I noticed much improvement in my metabolism, though I noticed other changes.

You can feel the effects quite quickly after starting thyroxine. By my day 3 of taking thyroxine I was already hyperthyroid so I really felt the effects lol.
