Synthroid doesage vs. Armour dosage

I have been on Synthroid 125 mcg for 10 years.  I hear all of the great reviews regarding Armour.  My Dr. did agree to switch me.  I am in my first week taking, 60 mg of Armour everyday, and add 15 mg of Armour every other day.  I will test in 6 weeks to see how I'm doing.  I would like to know who out there has been on my same dosage w/Synthroid and what dosage are you on w/ Armour?   I know everone is different.  The only symptom I have that is different, is I have a deep hunger in my stomach that wakes me up at night and is almost painful (painfully hungry).   I am still tired.

That is correct.  How much do you take daily?

My Armour Thyroid bottle says it is 1 1/2 grain (90mg) . Each tablet contains: levothyroxine (T4) 57 mcg &
liothyronine (T3) 13.5 mcg

I thought the armour was reformulated and it was best to take Naturethroid or Westthroid?

When Armour was reformulated, the filler/binders were changed and that affected the ability to take it sublingually.  Other than that the amount of T4 and T3  remain the same as the equivalent dose of NatureThroid or Westhroid.

According to the info, one grain of Armour is about the equivalent of 75 mcg of Synthroid.  If you have not been converting T4 to T3 very well, then the grain of Armour could actually have more effect than 75 mcg of Synthroid.  So I think it is a good thing that you have started on a conservative dosage of Armour and your should plan to increase the dosage as necessary to relieve your symptoms.   Symptom relief should be all important.

At one time I was taking 225 mcg of Synthroid, yet had lingering symptoms.  After learning about the importance of FT3 on the Forum, I switched to Armour.  Currently taking 2 1/2 grains of Armour, after moving up slowly.  Already feel best ever.
