Synthroid question

I have been taking 50mcg of Synthroid for the past month. Up from 25mcg from first diagnosis 3 months ago. Initial dose of synthroid, felt great. Lost the swelling in my legs, had energy. But after 3 weeks felt tired again. Upped to 50mcg. No real change and swelling has come back, along with thinnning hair and a new one - constipation which I never had, even pre treatment. Apart from that my temps have improved i feel (not taking them but feel a bit warmer). Anyone else find that increase synthroid not that good? Just went back for tests and will get results next week. Am thinking of adding cytomel or maybe even switching to Armor for a bit.

Yes its strange because the drug supposed to treat the disease is making it worse it seems! Also I read that once I started taking Synthroid I would lose weight - that has not happened either. I have been on Synthroid for about 3 months now and no huge improvement. Hopefully he'll have some recommendations for me when Iget my blood tests back next week!

My 10 year old is also on levothyroxine (generic for synthroid)   and is experiencing severe constipation for the first time in his life.  Reading your and other comments elsewhere, I am sure this has to be the cause of constipation.  I just put in a call to his doctor hoping to try something else.

Good luck to you!
