I have been recently diagnosed with thyroiditis. I'm currently in a hypo stage and have been put on synthroid - 50mg a day. I've been on the meds for 5 weeks and am still gaining weight. I began on June 11 and since then have gained aprx 1.2 lbs a week. I feel bloated and swollenSwollen glands, but when I went to the endo. she said that it would take a while for my metabolism to catch up with my blood work - which now has a TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh of 1.2.
My question is - how long before my weight STOPS going up and begins going back down? And is it normalNormal saline flush for bloating??
Thanks so much for your help
I'm on Synthroid and I get bloating a lot.
My digestive system is whacky, and that happened independant of the Synthroid.
So I don't know. It's a chicken/egg thing.
I figure I'll give Synthroid about another six months and if things don't get better, I'll try switching to Levoxyl.
In the meantime, I'm trying to get my digestive tract running again. I probably need to work on that harder than I am.
As for other symptoms, some of them do not stop overnight. Your Endo is right. Your body has to catch up.
