TPO Thyroid High

I just had my TPO test done, and it came back at 1620.  I was having a problem with my eyebrows coming out and a rash on my legs.  So my doctor wanted to do this test.  I take Armour Thyroid, 90 mg. in the AM, and 30 mg in the PM.  My last blood work on the thyroid was TSH 0.03, T3 Free 3.0, T4 Free 0.8.  What should I do to get the TPO down?  Should I change to Synthroid instead of Armour?  Thanks, Brenda

Laura,
Thanks for the info.  You mentioned I apear to be hyper, because of the T3.  A dr I went to said, according to my blood work, I was hyper instead of hypo.  Seems each doctor has a different way to treat this condition.  She said I needed to cut back on my meds.  The doctor I am seeing at present, wants me to stay where I am.  Which is 90 AM, and 30PM on Armour.  Another dr wants me to take Synthroid..Have been on this for several weeks and went back on Amour today.  Just didn't feel the same as when on Armour.  Could tell a big difference.   Whick do you take, and how much?  Thanks so much for the help... To better health. Brenda

Hi Brenda and welcome! Your Free T3 and Free T4 are still too low. You need more medication. Unfortunatley here is what happens to a lot of patients: T3 meds always supress the TSH to make it look like you are hyper, when you are not. So the drs look at the TSH and say "Whoa, no increase"  instead of looking at the free's which are the actual hormone levels in the body. So you stay undermedicated on Armour unless your dr will get with the program and realize you need to go by the free's....especially since you have Hashimoto's which throws out the "normal" levels anyway and you should be medicated by symptoms!  (That was a mouthful! Phew! lol )
You can also try taking selenium which a lot of people say it helps their antibody load.
Looks like you are in fast destruction mode.
Hope this info helps!  :)
