TSH & Synthroid

I have been taking the lowest dose of synthroid for treatment of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis for 8 weeks. My TSH has dropped from 7.98 to 3.81. My doctor's target for me is 2.5. I feel so much better. However, I still do not feel like myself. My question is will I continue to improve in feeling better and will the TSH lower the longer I take Synthroid at this dosage? I guess I do not the "wait" period for optimal results.

When your TSH level gets to the point  where your doctor wants it, and you still do not feel well, discuss it with him.  Everyone is different and you should try to find the TSH level that is right for you.  You are lucky.  My TSH level, the last test, was 56 and am still trying for the lower numbers.  It seems that from what I've read here on the forums, a lot of people feel best at 1.0 or there abouts, so just keep getting the blood tests done.  I have also read that it takes up to 6 weeks sometimes to reach the level point and keep it consistently at one dosage.  This is just what I have learned, so you'll  have to determine yourself where you feel the best.  I am sure glad to hear someone is feeling better, though.  Thanks for those words of encouragement.  I hope to reach the right point, too.  I am on synthroid, also.  Good luck.
