TSH 0.0.4 FT4 2.1

by rohit_786, May 05, 2007 12:00AM
I post my add recently about my Thyroid issue. Last month my TSH level was .002 so my doctor stopped Cytomel 5mcgx2/day  which was recently started to boost my enery and feel better and along with cytomel i was taking 75 mcg for Levoxyl. In April ninth i started only 100mcg Levoxyl after 3 days of no thyroid medicine .

I started feeling better but unable to sleep in night, in tolerance of heat and high heart rate but good energy level and less fatigue , My doctor ran test again and found this time TSH .004 /FT4 2.1 .So he dropped levoxyl to 50mcg  since last three days, i started have less energy , fatigue and sameless sleep in night .

I like to know , should i continue 100mcg and give some time to get my level adjusted as it was only 22 days i was on 100mcg , i heard it takes 6 weeks for level to get adjusted .Please give advice /stories so i can easy off my stress.

WOW!  10 mcg of cytomel is way, way, way to much T3.  A much more effective ratio is about a 98% t4 to 2% t3.  So if you were taking 100mcg of t4 you would take 2 mcg of cytomel.  Less thank a half Tablet.  It is hard to say if 100mcg t4 is to much for you because you were taking so much Cytomel.  I would stay of all meds for a week and after that start taking 50mcg T4 per day and a 1/4 tablet of a 5mcg Cytomel or about 1.25 mcg.  I would also advise that you use Armour for your t3 portion as my doctor with long experience in these matters has found the Armour to be more effective.  Why???  He doesn't know but he goes by the results with the hundred of patients he sees.  Best of Luck!

My doctor has a pharmacist use Armour thyroid extract and puts it into time released capsules so that I have a supply of T3 all day. (since its shelf life is so short)

Thanks for your reply. I am still confuse with actual dosage. I was taking only levoxyl before Feb 21 since Sept 2006 but still have low energy /itchy skin/muscles pain and weakness/tingling&numbness. On Feb 21 my TSH was 1.28 /FT4 1.68 and Ft3 was 2.58 so my doctor added T3 as well , when he added T3 he reduced levoxyl from 88mcg to 75 mcg with 5mcgx2/day T3 . After a week i started having some energy level but in last week of march had same symptoms back again even worst lot of fatgue /burning sensation in feet/numbness/tingling /muscless weakness/high heart rate /sweating so my doctor ran blood test again , that shows my TSH was .002 so he stopped Cytomel on April 2nd , i didn't take any medicine for 3 days and started 100mcg of Levoxyl from 9th April . I started feeling better  pretty much all symptoms are gone specailly numbness /tingling but heart rate and insonamia still there so did test again found my TSH was .004 FT4 was 2.1 .

So now from 30April i am taking 50mcg levoxyl and notice since yestarday my muscless weakness come back/burning sensation in feet back again.

My questions what dose i should be using should i waited for 6 weeks and continue take 100 mcg to see it adjusted or i should be fine with 50mcg also .

Suggest correct dose based on your experience and stories and also about Hives in Hashimotos.

I would go back to the dose of t4 that got your tsh to 1.26 area prior to your taking cytomel.  If you were taking 100mcg T4 and drew a TSH of 1.26 prior to taking cytomel try the following:  I think a good number to shoot for is 2.0.  What I would do if I were you is take 90 mcg per day of T4 and add 1/4 tablet of a armour thyroid extract. (30mg tablet)- Do this by cutting the tablet into 4 even peices. If all you have is cytomel 5 mcg tablet cut that into 4 even peices)  Try to survive on this for 4 to 5 weeks and test again.  You dont need allot of T3.  What you do need is your T4 level good and then just a dusting or a pinch of T3.
